The Nocturnes, Op. 48 consists of two nocturnes that were written and published by Frédéric Chopin in 1841 and 1842 respectively. The opus 48 piece has two nocturnes which are dedicated to Mlle. Laure Duperré. Later on, Chopin sold the the pieces’ copyrights for 2,000 francs along with his several other pieces.
Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48, No. 1
Considered as one of Chopin’s greatest emotional achievements, the Nocturne in C minor, Op 48 is initially created and marked in lento in 4/4 meter. The scheme of the music piece is generally in ternary form and follows the A-B-A structure and is 77 measures long.
At measure 25m the piece becomes poco più lento and enters the middle section, the chorale in C major. Afterwards at measure 49, it moves to doppio movimento agitato and showcases fortissimo octave passages and double octave arpeggi. The final part of the piece ends with a reprisal of the initial melody with extremely fast chordal accompaniment.

Nocturne in F-sharp minor, Op. 48, No. 2
The second piece that has a total of 137 measures is originally marked andantino in 4/4 meter. At measure 57, it transitions from più lento and back to its original tempo at measure 101.
